Closed ICU for Critical Care

If you or a loved one has a severe condition that requires inpatient intensive care, you’ll be treated in our closed intensive care unit (ICU). Our closed ICU is staffed by experts dedicated to delivering the highest level of critical pulmonary care.

Multidisciplinary, Whole-Body Care

We use a team approach to providing care to the whole patient. Among others, our team includes pulmonologists, medical residents, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and psychiatrists. We collaborate to help you make a full recovery in every way.

Advanced Treatment Options

Interventional Pulmonary Procedures

We are experts in several interventional pulmonary procedures. These techniques use endoscopy to help diagnose and treat chest and lung conditions.

We offer:

Bronchoscopy—uses a scope to examine the inside of your lungs and airways.
Chest tube placement—inserts a thin plastic tube into the pleural space of the lung to remove excess fluid or air.
Cryotherapy bronchoscopy—uses rapid freeze-thaw cycles through a scope to safely restore airways and improve symptoms of central airway obstruction.
Endobronchial valve (EBV) system—uses a catheter passed through a scope to deploy small umbrella-like valves inside the lungs to treat acute and chronic conditions.
Endoscopic bronchial ultrasound (EBUS)—combines ultrasound with bronchoscopy to visualize the walls of the airways and biopsy tissue in the lungs or surrounding lymph nodes.
Navigational bronchoscopy—creates a 3D map of the lungs to examine and treat lesions in areas of the lungs that are inaccessible using a regular bronchoscopy.
Thoracentesis—removes fluid buildup in the pleural space of the lungs.
Zephyr Valve system—deploys one-way valves through a scope to areas of the lung affected by emphysema.

Endobronchial Valve Implants for COPD & Emphysema

Endobronchial valve implants called Zephyr Valves are a minimally invasive treatment option for people with severe COPD and emphysema. In clinical studies, patients treated with endobronchial valve implants can breathe easier, be more active, and enjoy improved quality of life. The valves are an alternative to more invasive lung surgery to reduce lung volume.

During the procedure, your doctor places several valves in the airways of your lungs without making incisions (cuts). You will stay in the hospital for at least three nights.

You may be a candidate for endobronchial valve implants if you:

Have a confirmed diagnosis of COPD or emphysema
Must stop to catch your breath often, even when taking medication as directed
Have reduced lung function
