As women progress through puberty, into their childbearing years and beyond, they face unique medical conditions. Bone or joint issues can interfere with daily activities. For example, pelvic-floor dysfunction can lead to pain and incontinence, low back and hip pain associated with pregnancy, overstretched or weakened muscles after childbirth, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis.
We work with both women and men to develop a personalized therapy program to treat pain and disorders of your pelvic muscles, which support the bladder, urethra, and other pelvic organs. Those muscles are known as the pelvic floor.
Our physical therapists can design a program specifically to help you maintain a strong, healthy body and manage any related health issues you face. Therapy may include pelvic muscle exercises (Kegels), muscle reconditioning, biofeedback, and electrical stimulation of muscles.
