Overview
Infectious diseases are caused by harmful bacteria, fungi, parasites, or viruses. They can be acute or chronic—that means they may or may not go away. But proper treatment can help clear the infection or manage your symptoms.
Our infectious disease experts are trained to diagnose and treat all infectious diseases, including rare or newly identified ones. The conditions we treat include:
- Acute and chronic viral hepatitis (types A, B and C)
- Bloodstream and catheter/port infections
- Clostridioides difficile (C. diff)
- Endocarditis (infection of the heart and heart valves)
- Fevers of unknown origin (fevers that won’t go away or that return)
- Gastrointestinal illnesses like Giardia, Listeria and Salmonella
- Histoplasmosis and other fungal infections
- HIV infection (including post-exposure management)
- Infections of prosthetic devices and implants (infections of joint replacements, pacemakers or other devices)
- Meningitis and encephalitis (infections of the spinal cord and brain)
- Osteomyelitis and vertebral discitis (infections involving bone or the spine)
- Pneumonia
- Postoperative infections (infections that complicate or result from surgery)
- Skin and soft tissue infections, including MRSA
- Syphilis and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Tick- or mosquito-borne infections (including Lyme disease, malaria and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever)
- Travel medicine (managing infections resulting from travel)
- Tuberculosis
- Zoonotic infections (infections from animals)
We make every attempt to see and establish newly diagnosed HIV patients with one of our physicians within one week.
