Overview
A woman’s body evolves from puberty to menopause. We understand that when cancer affects your reproductive organs, it feels especially personal. Our cancer care team treats gynecologic cancer across all stages of life.
Once diagnosed, we work closely with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that considers your specific cancer, along with your personal goals and preferences. We can adjust your care plan according to how treatments may affect your fertility, sexual health or menopausal symptoms—without compromising the effectiveness of treatment.
Even though gynecologic cancer is treatable, treatments can have side effects such as fatigue, hair loss and fertility problems.
Types of Gynecologic Cancers
Gynecologic cancer includes these cancers that originate within a woman’s reproductive system:
- Cervical cancer—cancer that begins in the cells lining your cervix (the lower, narrow opening of the uterus).
- Fallopian tube cancer (tubal cancer)—cancer that begins in one or both of the tubes that carry eggs from your ovaries to your uterus.
- Ovarian cancer—cancer that begins in one or both of your ovaries, which produce eggs and the female hormones estrogen and progesterone.
- Uterine (endometrial) cancer—cancer that begins in the womb, which is the pear-shaped organ where babies grow during pregnancy.
- Vaginal cancer—cancer that begins in your vagina (birth canal).
- Vulvar cancer—cancer that begins in the outer, visible part of the female genitals, including the vaginal lips.
